Friends, thank you for your support! I really had no idea if it would be feasible to reach my goal just from asking my friends to support Restore. However, we collectively surpassed the goal and raised over $16 thousand dollars which will provide basic necessities such as counseling, medical screenings, food, shelter, ect for trafficking survivors.

I know each of you will likely never meet these trafficking survivors personally, but be assured that your financial sacrifice will make a huge difference in these women’s lives. This population of women has some of the greatest needs for social services, yet has no access to such services due to legal/immigration status, financial constraints, and language barriers. So on behalf of the staff at Restore NYC and women we serve, I want to thank you all for your thoughtfulness, support, and sacrifice. Here’s to a great 2012!

I’m celebrating my birthday for the first time in NY in support of Restore NYC*, an organization I’ve served for the past four years. Most of you know that I’m on the Board for Restore and I volunteer about 10-15 hours a week working on projects for the organization. It’s been time well spent as our organization has been able to provide shelter, medical care, legal services, food, counseling, and job training – services that were unavailable 4 years ago for undocumented survivors of trafficking. These services help provide trafficking survivors a renewed sense of hope and trust in others and will allow them to experience a safe and healthy Thanksgiving and Christmas for the first time in years.

For every dollar you donate, I will match your gift up to a total of $5,000 at month-end. All donations are tax deductible and wil go to Restore NYC. I’d like to collectively raise at least $8,000 between myself and my friends by January 1st.. I know that the holidays are a busy and expensive time and that many of you have received multiple requests for support for various worthy causes. Whether or not you are able to support Restore financially, I hope you can still join me on Dec 17th at 10pm to celebrate my birthday at Fat Buddha in New York. I’ll be buying my own drinks since I’m asking for your support.

*Restore NYC is a nonprofit dedicated to providing long-term, holistic aftercare services for sex trafficking survivors. We also assist with the prosecution of traffickers and in the past year we worked with the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and US Attorney's Office with investigations against sex traffickers.
